Grand RoyalGrand Royal Turf is most comparable to the Palmetto Turf. It has an almost equal tolerance to drought, shade and frost, but has a lower tolerance against salt. It is because of its low tolerance to against salt that the Grand Royal Turf is primarily used in locations where salt is not an issue.

Like the Palmetto Turf, it is used in home lawns and parks. The Grand Royal grass leaves are soft which provides a smooth and comfortable surface for walking and playing on.

Grand Royal is primarily grown in South East Queensland, Australia, which makes this location the most ideal climate for it to grow in. This is not to say that Grand Royal cannot thrive in other locations, it is just best suited for that type of climate.

Grand Royal is similar to other Australian Commercial varieties and does require more maintenance than Palmetto . It grows quicker, which in turn requires more mowing and de-thatching. The size of the Grand Royal’s leaf is the same as Palmettos and has a similar deep green color. Its resistance to wear is almost equal to Palmetto, but is a lower grade. Grand Royal’s recovery ability is equal to that of Palmetto.
